Position Overview

As a Field Quality Engineer, you will be at the forefront of investigating intricate electrical issues across vehicle systems. Using the structured 8D framework, you will lead cross‑functional teams, define problems, implement containment strategies, and drive root‑cause identification. Your expertise will be vital in confirming fault mechanisms and developing corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

Testing, Diagnostics & Root‑Cause Validation

  • Drive electrical diagnostic activities, including bench testing, vehicle testing, and fault replication.
  • Design and execute test plans linked to hypotheses to isolate failure modes.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analysers to confirm root causes.

Problem‑Solving

  • Identify and coordinate a talented team for effective problem solving.
  • Craft clear, data‑driven problem statements and analyse relevant data.
  • Lead temporary containment actions to ensure customer and operational safety.
  • Conduct in‑depth investigations to verify root causes through testing and structured analysis.
Cross‑Functional & Supplier Engagement
  • Collaborate closely with design, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure alignment on problems and solutions.
  • Engage with suppliers to set clear technical expectations and conduct joint testing.
  • Contribute to design reviews and updates based on findings.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to lessons‑learned processes.
  • Support the development of internal problem‑solving standards and coaching initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • Experience with automotive electrical systems (body electronics, infotainment, EV systems, ADAS).
  • Proven success in executing 8D processes, including interim containment and root‑cause analysis.
  • Strong hands‑on diagnostic skills with automotive electrical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
  • Excellent communication skills for producing clear technical reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
  • Knowledge of tools like CANoe/CANalyser, MATLAB/Simulink, or Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL).
  • Understanding of automotive quality and safety standards (IATF 16949, ISO 26262).
  • Six Sigma or equivalent problem‑solving certification.

  • Clear, confident communication and collaboration abilities.
  • High attention to detail and evidence‑based decision‑making.
Working Conditions
  • Engage in hands‑on work across laboratory, workshop, and office environments.
