Job summary

WalterFedy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support a complex Design-Build project located near London, Ontario, with 4 days per week on-site for 18 consecutive months. The role involves field reviews, coordination with the GC, trade partners, Owner, and external agencies, and leadership of the mechanical team.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in engineering, a P.E. license, and at least 7 years of industry experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering role within the construction industry, preferably as a consulting engineer.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and best practices.
• Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems using innovative approaches.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external agencies.
• Project management experience with mechanical contracts valued between $5,000,000 and $40,000,000.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct complex engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate the work of engineers and designers.
• Manage projects with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems.
• Prepare field review reports, estimate costs, and recommend payments.
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients, Owners, and external agencies.
• Mentor junior staff and potentially manage a team of up to 8.
