Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to join our client in Oxford. The role focuses on installing and monitoring instrumentation used to assess foundations and structures on construction and infrastructure projects.

You will install fibre-optic sensors, perform site inspections and data collection, monitor strain and movement, and help with data processing and reporting. Travel across the UK and outdoor work are involved.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related subject
• Graduate or up to 2 years' relevant experience
• Interested in practical, site-based engineering
• Comfortable working outdoors and travelling to project sites
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence desirable

Responsibilities

• Installing fibre-optic sensors and monitoring equipment
• Carrying out site-based inspections, measurements and data collection
• Monitoring strain, movement, temperature and structural behaviour
• Processing and interpreting monitoring data
• Supporting engineers with technical assessments and reporting
• Travelling to project sites across the UK
• Maintaining high health and safety standards
