Hydro International, part of a CRH company, is recruiting a Field Hydrometrist in the Derby area. The role involves visiting sites to collect water quantity and quality data, and installing and maintaining telemetry equipment.

It is a full-time, onsite position in the Derbyshire region with 37.5 hours per week and overtime available. You will work outdoors in all weather, travel as required, and benefit from training and a supportive environment within Infrastructure Products Group.

Qualifications

• A passion for working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in water; strong swimming skills.
• Confidence in working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Good level of computer literacy (MS Word/Excel).
• A degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental field (e.g., Environmental Science, Geography, Geology).
• Awareness of potential risks and safety protocols.
• Hands-on experience with power and hand tools.
• Willing to travel as required.
• Possess a UK driving licence for 12 months.
• Full training provided; prior experience not required.
• Experience with hydrometric field data collection is beneficial but not essential.

Role Overview

The role involves visiting various sites, primarily undertaking field measurements of water quantity (flow), depth, quality, rainfall etc. Additionally, responsibilities include the installing, operating, and maintaining of telemetry logging equipment.

Essential Requirements

• A passion for working outdoors in all weathers conditions
• Comfortable working in water, strong swimming skills
• Confidence in working at heights, such as using ladders, and ease in working within confined spaces
• Good level of computer literacy (MS Office applications - Word, Excel)
• Possession of a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental field (e.g., Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, etc.)
• Demonstrates awareness of potential risks and safety protocols
• Experienced in hands-on tasks, including use of power and hand tools
• Willing to travel as required
• Possess a valid UK driver’s licence for 12 months
• Full training is provided; prior experience not required provided you possess the essential skills listed above
• Experience with Hydrometric field data collection is beneficial but not essential
