Responsibilities
- Carry out a risk assessment and follow method statements before starting work.
- Identify the structure and composition of telecom network cables and interpret telecom network plans.
- Work safely in various environments (overhead and underground) at connection points in the telecoms network.
- Select and use appropriate equipment, install and test components of the telecom network, and fault‑find to solve problems.
- Maintain safety standards, use personal protective equipment, and comply with correct procedures when working with the network.
- Communicate accurately and timely with third parties to deliver the best experience.
- Work individually or as part of a team to achieve defined goals, taking appropriate actions when working around other utility services.

Apprenticeship & Training Programme
As a Level 2 Telecoms Field Operative Apprentice, you will spend approximately 20 % of your working hours learning on the job with a funded training provider. After a qualifying period, you will enter a Regional Bonsu Scheme and, upon completion, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
Schedule & Compensation
- Start Date: Wednesday 6 May 2026
- Duration: 1 year 1 month
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a rolling pattern (shifts 8 am‑8 pm). After training, move to a 4‑days‑out‑of‑7 schedule (38 hours per week).
- Salary: £26,500 per year, rising to £29,000 upon completion.
- Holiday: 25 days (increasing to 28 days after 5 years) plus birthday off.

- Driving: Possession of a full driver's licence to use the company van.
