Responsibilities

  • Run and install cables across multiple sites.
  • Adjust signal levels and make connections.
  • Configure and test advanced broadband and TV equipment.
  • Work at heights to install or update equipment on poles.
  • Carry out risk assessments and follow method statements.
  • Interpret network plans to locate plant or installation points.
  • Fault-find and troubleshoot telecom network issues.
  • Use personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Overview

Field Technician Apprentice – join Virgin Media O2 and gain industry‑recognised qualifications while earning a competitive salary. You’ll start at £26,500 a year with the potential to rise to £29,000 post‑completion, and you’ll be eligible for a Regional Bonus Scheme. The apprenticeship is fully funded, with 20% of your working hours dedicated to on‑the‑job learning with a training provider.

Role

As a Field Technician Apprentice you install, service and upgrade our fibre‑optic broadband, TV, and telephone products at customer sites. You’ll work in a variety of settings – from indoor network cabinets to outdoor poles – while applying the latest technology and safety practices.

Responsibilities
  • Run and install cables across multiple sites.
  • Adjust signal levels and make connections.
  • Configure and test advanced broadband and TV equipment.
  • Work at heights to install or update equipment on poles.
  • Carry out risk assessments and follow method statements.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Full UK driving licence – used to travel to customer sites.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
  • Physical fitness and comfort working in changing weather conditions.
Training & Progression

Approximately 37.5 hours per week on a rolling shift pattern (8.00–20.00). After successful completion you will transition to a 4‑day‑out‑of‑7 working week.
