Kenton Bank Foot Area, Newcastle upon Tyne
Full and part time hours available on shifts across all days of the week plus the opportunity to pick up open shifts. Rotas are published at least four weeks and up to seven weeks in advance. We do not currently have any vacancies for overnight shifts.
Basic £16.00 per hour following successful probation period. Enhanced rates for weekends and bank holidays. (£14.50 per hour until probation complete).
M is a fun-loving autistic young woman with a learning disability and complex emotional needs. M requires 2:1 support from her team to help her feel safe and supported. With the right support, M is funny, caring and sociable.
Currently, M’s week involves three days of education and four days of activities. Her preferred activities include going to the football, bowling, dancing, watching theatre shows and playing crazy golf. Although M finds it hard to relax, she enjoys listening to music, writing about her day, looking at photos and eating out.
M’s health needs combine to mean that she struggles to communicate effectively and can dysregulate very quickly. This can lead to behaviours of distress. M’s carers need to be able to respond calmly and follow her Positive Behaviour Support Plan.
We are looking for someone who has experience of following a Positive Behaviour Support Plan; and who is a great team player.
The team’s focus is on supporting M’s daily living skills and emotional stability and developing sustainable behaviour strategies. We promote choice, control and independence wherever possible.
You must be warm, compassionate and able to remain calm under pressure.
You must demonstrate an understanding of the challenges autistic people and people with intellectual disabilities face.
You should be computer literate.
You should be comfortable around dogs and pets.
We are based in a family home, between Kenton Bank Foot and Callerton Parkway metro stations. Ideally this will be your primary employment.
