Job summary

United Response is seeking a Female Support Worker in Bristol on a part-time basis. The role involves assisting a person in their 40s with daily living tasks, managing routines, and participating in outings. A full UK driving licence and own vehicle are required for consideration.

Hours are 15 per week (Mon-Thu), with shifts typically 9:30am–4:00pm. DBS check will be completed, and training will be provided. Visa sponsorship is not available.

About the person you will support

We are looking for a kind and patient female support worker to support a person in their 40s to live as independently as possible. The person we support lives comfortably in their own one-bedroom flat and has a mild Learning Disability, Dyspraxia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

We are looking for someone who will take the time to get to know them, listen to their needs and involve them in making plans. They enjoy having structure and routine and benefit from support and encouragement with daily living tasks.

It is important that support is provided at their own pace, as they do not like to feel rushed. They enjoy getting out into the countryside and taking part in their regular activities, including gardening and horse-riding. They also have support from their family, so being able to work positively and respectfully alongside family members is important.

About you

We are looking for someone to work up to 15 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, usually between 9:30am and 4:00pm. Experience of supporting people or of working in a social care setting and availability during school holidays is also required.

You will work mainly independently, supporting the person in line with their individual needs and preferences, as set out in their person-centred support plan.You will support the person with a range of everyday tasks, helping them to maintain their independence. This may include shopping, preparing meals, keeping their home clean and tidy, recording cash and card payments, and ensuring they have enough money for activities when needed. You will also need to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, family members and other professionals, both verbally and in writing.

As part of your role, you will be using a digital app called Nourish, where all care and support plans of the people we support are held. Experience of using a digital or mobile app would be desirable however full training will be given.

The needs of this service do require the successful applicant to hold a full manual UK driving licence with access to their own vehicle. The successful applicant will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check the cost of which to be met by United Response.
