Job Overview
A content young, non verbal, adult male who is autistic, routine oriented, has epilepsy and learning disabilities. He is noise sensitive and requires a caring, experienced team player to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Respond to any seizures with first aid, moving and handling and administering emergency medication if needed.
- Support and/or prompt with personal care, including toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, and dressing.
- Support and/or prompt with cooking and meal preparation and consuming meals and drinks.
- Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
- Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
- Develop a good and trusting one-to-one working relationship.
- Monitor and support the individual's health and wellbeing, especially when walking upstairs, downstairs or around the home and garden.
- Wear PPE and provide lateral flows weekly.
- Maintain safety of the individual at all times and report accidents or hazards immediately.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Only candidates over the legal age should apply and be able to administer medication.
- Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy and following care plans.
- Authentic interest in supporting people with a disability or illness to achieve their goals.
- Honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy; prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
- Be able to work on own initiative and follow instructions accurately.
- Work as part of a team, be patient, supportive and caring.
- Good listening skills and ability to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
- Empathetic and self-motivated with willingness to get involved.
- Flexibility to accommodate variable hours.
- Previous caring experience not essential, but genuine interest required.
Schedule
- 15 hours per week (Tuesday 6.45am‑5pm and either Monday or Friday half‑day (5 hours, AM or PM, to be agreed) or one Sunday per month).
- Tuesday: 6.45am‑5pm.
- Sunday: one fixed Sunday shift a month, 9.30am‑2pm.
Training & Qualifications
- First Aid training will be provided by the employer.
- Moving and Handling training will be provided by the employer.
- Epilepsy training will be provided by the employer.
- Preferred qualification of NVQ3 or Care Certificate.
- Experience and/or training in Epilepsy and Autism. Food hygiene.
- Renewed training can be given during probation.
- Successful candidates must undertake any training considered necessary and appropriate to the role.
