Job summary

Turning Point in Bedworth is seeking a Support Worker to help adults with learning disabilities live as independently as possible. You will support daily living activities, assist with personal care, and help residents stay safe and engaged in community activities.

No prior experience is required as full training is provided; we value a caring, flexible, and team-oriented attitude. Shifts include early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends within a 24-hour service.

Responsibilities

  • Promote independence and support daily living activities.
  • Assist with cleaning, cooking and general daily tasks.

  • Help residents develop life skills and personal interests.
  • Support residents to stay safe and healthy.
  • Assist with personal care as needed.
  • Assist with medication as required and maintain records.

Job description

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference to residents' lives as you improve their daily living skills. Passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience and training you need to progress with us. Where will I be working? Our services in Bedworth provide a 24-hour supported living facilities in providing care for adults with Learning Disabilities and additional health issues such as epilepsy, congenital conditions and dementia. Staff will develop communication skills such as knowledge of signing / visual aids as some are non-verbal. We endeavour to create positive family relationships offering a good circle of support. There is a strong focus on supporting individuals' lives in a person centred way which includes various activities, shopping, managing own budgets and cooking. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible. We use a digital social care record system, to support daily recording, which will make your day-to-day tasks easier and allows you to spend more time with the People We Support. No experience is necessary, staff with or without experience will be given full training to be able to do the role to the best of their ability.

  • able to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where needed
  • transferable experience of helping people to manage anxiety

You will be working a range of shifts including early mornings, late evenings, waking nights, sleep-ins and some weekends. You will get 29 days' paid holiday a year, increasing with each year of service up to 31 days. Plus the option to buy additional holidays and spread the cost.
