About the School

This pleasant school which is in Upminster has maintained a balanced community of children from varied backgrounds. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join a dynamic and successful sports department. The role involves delivering a diverse and engaging curriculum, coaching various sports, and contributing to our extensive extracurricular programme.

Note: Due to the requirement to teach single-sex classes and manage changing room facilities, this role has been designated for a Female teacher as a genuine occupational requirement.

The hours are Monday to Friday, school hours and this role is available to start from January 2026 until July 2026.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, practical, and theoretical PE lessons to students across all key stages.
  • Coach and manage school teams in relevant sports (e.g., football, netball, athletics, swimming, etc.) during practices and competitive fixtures.
  • Assess, monitor and report on student performance and progress, ensuring clear targets are set for improvement.
  • Maintain and enforce strict standards of safety, conduct and equipment usage during all physical activities.
  • Contribute actively to the organisation and running of school sports days, fixtures and departmental events.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive sporting culture that encourages participation, effort and respect among all students.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in PE and coaching.
What We're Looking For:
  • A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable successful experience teaching PE at the secondary school level.
  • Strong practical expertise and the ability to coach multiple team and individual sports effectively.
  • A commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and the psychological benefits of physical activity.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • A proactive willingness to dedicate time to the extracurricular sports programme, including after-school.
