The Employer in Chester is seeking a Female Personal Assistant to provide person-centred support with daily living activities, personal care, meal preparation, and community access. The role promotes independence, wellbeing, and choice while assisting with routines and maintaining a safe home environment.

DBS checks and employment references are required. Hours are 6 per week at a rate of £13.00 per hour, funded locally in the Chester area.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or Care Worker.
  • Experience providing personal care.
  • Knowledge of Autism and neurodiversity.
  • Understanding of Long Covid and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  • Experience helping individuals access education, training, or home study.

Job purpose

To provide person-centred support to an adult requiring assistance with daily living activities, personal care, meal preparation, and community access. The Personal Assistant will promote independence, wellbeing, and choice whilst providing practical and emotional support within the employer's home and local community. The role includes supporting the employer to manage daily routines, maintain a safe and comfortable living environment, access appointments and activities, and pursue personal and educational goals in a manner that respects their dignity, privacy, and individual preferences.

The employer is an adult who is seeking a supportive and understanding Personal Assistant to help maintain independence, wellbeing, and participation in everyday life. They enjoy gaming and creative leisure activities and are looking for someone who can encourage a healthy balance between hobbies, daily routines, and personal goals.

The Personal Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing support with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Assisting with meal planning and meal preparation to promote health and wellbeing.
  • Supporting with grocery shopping and obtaining essential household items.
  • Providing prompts and support to help the employer manage daily routines and maintain independence.
  • Accompanying the employer to appointments and community-based activities when required.
  • Supporting the employer to access local amenities, leisure activities, and opportunities for social inclusion.
  • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of a comfortable home-based study environment.
  • Encouraging and supporting the employer to achieve personal goals and maintain a balanced daily routine.
  • Providing reassurance, practical assistance, and emotional support where appropriate.
  • Monitoring when support may be required and responding appropriately whilst respecting the employer's independence and choice.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and promoting a positive and respectful working relationship.
  • Following agreed support plans and working in a person-centred manner.
  • Respecting confidentiality, privacy, and the employer's dignity at all times.
  • Please note that duties may vary slightly depending on the employer's individual needs and preferences and will be discussed further at interview.

Personal care:

Assistance with personal hygiene – this includes continence care and support to change into clean clothes when required. Administer medication when required. Monitoring of neurological symptoms, adrenal crisis symptoms and hypoglycaemic symptoms.

These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Hours of work: 6 hours per week – times to be discussed at interview.

Rate of pay: £13.00 per hour

Skills, qualifications, and experience
  • Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role.
  • Previous experience providing personal care.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Autism and neurodiversity.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Long Covid and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  • Experience supporting individuals with daily living activities.
  • Experience supporting individuals to access education, training, or home-based study.
  • Experience accompanying individuals to appointments and within the community.
  • Understanding of meal planning and meal preparation to support health and wellbeing.
  • An understanding of maintaining professional boundaries whilst developing a positive and supportive working relationship.
  • Relevant health and social care qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
  • Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion, including being supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain a positive, professional working relationship.
  • Ability to provide support in a person-centred manner whilst promoting independence and choice.Good problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
