Overview

Location: Elswick, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Hours: 8 hours per week, Saturdays and Sundays, with two possible shifts on a rota: 08:00–12:00 or 17:00–21:00. Rate of pay: £13.95 per hour.

Hello, I’m Kate, a 33-year-old powerchair user, seeking a passionate, proactive female personal assistant to join my team. The role involves 8 hours of work per week across Saturdays and Sundays, with two possible shifts on a rota: 08:00–12:00 or 17:00–21:00. There are opportunities to pick up extra hours when cover is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care support, including assistance with showers, toileting, and transfers (using a hoist – full training provided).
  • Assist with shopping trips and household chores on some weekends.
  • Cook meals and support daily living activities.
  • Care for and assist with a canine assistance dog; be comfortable with dogs and help clean up after the dog when needed.
  • Support the living environment and routines to help the client live independently.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Confident, proactive, quick-thinking, calm, and enjoys time outdoors.
  • Willing to assist with personal care and mobility tasks, including transfers with hoist.
  • Comfortable around dogs and able to assist with dog-related duties.
  • Current DBS check and satisfactory references are required, or the role will be subject to these checks.
  • Must have permission to work in the U.K. at the start of employment.
  • There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010.
