Job summary

Keoghs is seeking an Assistant Lawyer/Solicitor specializing in Motor Crime for their Birmingham office. This hands-on role involves managing a diverse caseload ranging from road traffic offenses to serious criminal matters. Responsibilities include drafting legal submissions, attending evidence gathering, and supporting clients throughout investigations.

The ideal candidate is a qualified solicitor with motor crime experience, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to client care. The position offers flexible working options and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with motor crime or criminal law experience.
• Ideal for NQ–1 PQE (6–12 months criminal experience)
• Background in legal aid/criminal defence highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and analysing prosecution evidence.
• Drafting witness statements and legal submissions.
• Supporting clients through investigations and proceedings.
• Attending police station interviews under caution.
• Liaising with courts, regulators and expert witnesses.
• Preparing defence case statements, reports and bundles.
• Attending trials and inquests alongside counsel.
• Conducting legal research and case preparation.
• Visiting incident sites and gathering evidence.

About the Role

Hands‑on, client‑facing specialist solicitor working on a broad range of motor crime cases, from road traffic offences to dangerous driving, serious injury and manslaughter matters. Provides real‑time investigations, police station attendance and court proceedings support from initial incident through to conclusion.
