Job summary

Guardian News and Media Limited is seeking a Picture Editor to oversee and commission Feast recipe shoots, collaborating with the art director and food team to deliver distinctive images for a weekly magazine section, newsletter, and mobile app. The role is a permanent NUJ contract on a four-days-per-week pattern.

You will commission shoots, plan content, manage budgets, and scout talent while ensuring clear credits and copyright.

Qualifications

• Proven experience commissioning food photography for print, digital publication and social channels.
• Experience assembling a shoot team and managing schedules.
• Experience handling budgets and negotiating fees.

Responsibilities

• Commission recipe shoots for Feast and work with art director/head of food to deliver distinctive images.
• Plan weekly and special issues, coordinating studios, photographers and stylists.
• Collaborate with Feast art director on visual direction of food content.
• Manage the picture budget and monitor content impact.
• Scout new photography and food styling talent and maintain relations with contributors.
• Clear copyright and credits.
