FE Tutor
Location: Hull
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner
Salary: £26 – £33 per hour

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and inspiring FE Tutor to work with post-16 learners across Hull, delivering personalised 1:1 and small group tuition. This rewarding role focuses on equipping young adults with the academic, practical, and emotional skills they need to succeed in education, employment, and independent living.

About the Role

As an FE Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver tailored teaching sessions in Functional Skills English and Maths, from Entry Level to Level 2.
  • Support learners in developing life skills, including communication, organisation, independent living, and decision-making.
  • Provide targeted employability support, such as CV writing, interview preparation, workplace behaviours, and career planning.
  • Work with learners who present SEMH needs, using a calm, trauma-informed and relationship-focused approach.
  • Create individual learning plans that reflect each learner’s goals, strengths, and support needs.
  • Track progress, set achievable targets, and provide regular updates to GSL Education and partner providers.
  • Work in a range of community and education settings across Hull.
What We Are Looking For
  • A qualified teacher, FE tutor, or experienced post-16 educator with strong knowledge of Functional Skills (Maths and English).
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH, additional needs, or barriers to learning.
  • A supportive, patient and motivational approach, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
  • Confidence in delivering practical life-skills and employability activities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to adapt learning to individual needs.
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
