Job summary

Noble Foods is seeking a Farm Operative to support the daily running of our egg-laying poultry farm. You will monitor the flock, collect and record eggs, maintain welfare and hygiene, and follow strict biosecurity procedures to help meet production targets.

The role involves working around poultry houses and assisting with the birds’ shed placement in the absence of management. Right to work in the UK and ILT 5 are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care of layer hens, ensuring health and welfare.
• Monitor birds for illness or behavioural changes and report concerns.
• Support egg collection, grading, and recording production figures.
• Maintain lighting, ventilation, and temperature in poultry houses.
• Follow biosecurity procedures and wear clean clothing and footwear.
• Maintain cleanliness in poultry houses and surrounding areas.
• Handle birds safely according to welfare guidelines.
• Check feed levels and report shortages to Farm Manager.
• Assist with safe handling and storage of feed supplies.
• Ensure feeding and drinking systems function correctly.
• Clean equipment, walkways, nest boxes and egg belts.
• Assist with washout between flocks and preparation of houses.
• Record eggs, floor eggs, mortality and daily data.
• Use logs or digital tools per farm procedures.
• Carry out routine equipment checks and report faults.
• Assist with routine maintenance to keep the farm running smoothly.
• Carry out site maintenance and range management as directed.

What are we looking for?

The Farm Operative supports the daily running of an egg-laying poultry farm by carrying out routine tasks to maintain bird health, maximise egg production, and ensure high standards of welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity. This role involves working in and around the poultry houses, monitoring the flock, maintaining equipment, collecting eggs, and following farm procedures to help achieve production targets. The successful candidate will be required to support with putting the birds into their sheds on an evening in the absence of farm management.

About The Role

Key Accountabilities of the role – IT: What I do

• Assist with the daily care of layer hens, ensuring their health and welfare.
• Monitor birds for signs of illness, injury, or behavioural changes and report concerns to the Farm Manager.
• Support daily egg collection, grading, and recording of production figures.
• Help maintain correct lighting, ventilation, and temperature conditions in poultry houses.
• Follow strict biosecurity procedures, including changing clothing, footwear, and using disinfection areas correctly.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in poultry houses and surrounding areas.
• Handle birds safely and in line with welfare guidelines.
• Check feed levels and report shortages or issues to the Farm Manager.
• Assist with the safe handling and storage of feed supplies.
• Ensure feeding and drinking systems are functioning correctly.
• Carry out routine cleaning of equipment, walkways, nest boxes, and egg belts.
• Support washout and preparation of poultry houses between flocks.
• Accurately record egg numbers, floor eggs, mortality, and other daily data as required.
• Use manual logs or digital tools in line with farm procedures.
• Carry out basic equipment checks and report and faults or repairs needed.
• Assist with routine maintenance tasks to keep the farm running smoothly.
• Carry out whole site maintenance and range management as directed by the farm management team.

The successful candidate must have right to live and work in the UK and have ILT 5
