Job summary

Capel Manor College seeks a Farm Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of the farm, delivering its educational, commercial, environmental and community objectives. You will supervise a small team and oversee livestock, market garden production, farm shop supply chains, land management, compliance, staffing and budgets.

You will uphold high welfare, health and safety, environmental stewardship and visitor experience while developing sustainable farm enterprises in collaboration

Responsibilities

• Strategic and operational management of the farm to deliver educational, commercial, environmental and community objectives.
• Lead all aspects of farm operations including livestock, market garden production, farm shop supply chains, land management, compliance, staffing and budgets.
• Maintain high animal welfare, health and safety standards and environmental stewardship while ensuring a positive visitor experience.
• Collaborate with the Head of Arboriculture, Agriculture and Environmental Conservation to drive sustainable farm enterprises and maximise learning opportunities for students.

Job description

We are now looking for an exceptional individual to join us in the role of Farm Manager and help transform the farm into a vibrant and thriving business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the farm, ensuring the effective delivery of its educational, commercial, environmental, and community objectives. Supported by a small team, you will lead all aspects of farm operations, including livestock, market garden production, farm shop supply chains, land management, compliance, staffing, and budgets. You will ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, health and safety, environmental stewardship and visitor experience whilst supporting the Farm's role as a flagship educational and community asset. Working closely with the Head of Arboriculture, Agriculture and Environmental Conservation, you will drive the development of sustainable farm enterprises, maximise commercial opportunities and create an outstanding practical learning environment for students.
