Grade and Salary

Grade 5: £21,532 – £23,008 per annum (29.5 hours – £31,537 – £33,699 full‑time equivalent).

Grade 6: £5,902 – £6,529 per annum (7.5 hours – £33,699 – £37,280 full‑time equivalent).

Working Pattern

37 hours per week / 39 weeks per year. The role is split: 4 days as Family Welfare Officer (Grade 5) and 1 day as Deputy Safeguarding Officer (Grade 6).

Contract

Permanent.

The School

Swanwick Hall – an 11‑18 school in the semi­rural village of Swanwick on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border, within easy reach of the M1. The school has over 1,000 students and sits on a 23‑acre site surrounding a Grade 2 listed hall.

Mission: To provide students with opportunities and experiences that enhance their life choices and positively contribute to the world.

Role

This full‑time, term‑time position involves 4 days working as a Family Welfare Officer and 1 day as Deputy Safeguarding Officer.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils and their families, raising attendance levels of targeted families.
  • Provide early intervention and sign‑posting in a preventative manner.
  • Safeguard and protect students, deliver safeguarding training and deputise for the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Liaise with social services, CAMHS and other external agencies.
  • Manage referrals to outside agencies.
Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Confidence and sensitivity in dealing with students and families.
  • Ability to manage behaviour effectively.
  • Good knowledge of statutory safeguarding requirements.
  • Experience working with SEND students.

Desirable:

  • DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) training within the last 2 years.
