Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a Support Worker for the Family Time Support and Support Service North in Colchester. This permanent, full-time role focuses on delivering safe, meaningful family time for children in care, alongside social workers and partners.

The job offers a fixed-base working pattern and a competitive salary. Educated to Level 3 or equivalent, you will engage with communities, support care planning, and contribute to safeguarding and early intervention initiatives.

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and in-depth knowledge in relevant professional area.
• Experience building strong, effective relationships with children and families in times of challenge and crisis.
• Experience observing, facilitating, and reporting on Family Time.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in care to have safe, meaningful family time.
• Support social workers to implement and monitor care plans, and write reports where required.
• Maintain high standards of professional practice contributing to continuous improvement.
• Highlight issues and implement safeguarding plans.
• Build strong relationships with service users to enable change and functioning within the community.
• Collaborate with internal and external agencies to improve outcomes for children and families.
• Provide information about involvement/accessing third party agencies relevant to the needs of the service user.
• Participate in meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings to provide information and evidence.
• Write effective reports for professional meetings, forums, and court.
• Annual targets and objectives are defined within the performance framework.
