Job summary

Albion Academy in Salford is recruiting a Family Support Officer to join the Pastoral team and drive attendance improvement for students. The role includes contacting families about attendance and lateness, updating records, and reporting data to senior leaders.

You will meet with staff, pupils and parents to understand causes of non-attendance, agree action plans, and liaise with the Education Welfare Officer.

Qualifications

  • Experience contacting students and parents regarding attendance, lateness or persistence absences.
  • Ability to update school records, analyse attendance data and provide reports to SLT/Governors.
  • Meet with staff, pupils and parents to establish reasons for non-attendance and agree improvement plans.

Responsibilities

  • Make contact with families in response to referrals via home visits or in-school meetings.
  • Liaise with Education Welfare Officer; prepare paperwork and present information to enable the school to meet obligations.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain knowledge of statutory frameworks and policies.
  • Liaise with external organisations as required.
  • Keep accurate records of interventions and update attendance systems.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.

Job description

The Albion Academy is one of the most rapidly improving schools in Salford with a supportive and communal staff. Rated as good in all areas by OFSTED (July 2023). It is part of a cluster of four United Learning schools in Salford.

We are looking to recruit a family support officer who will work within the Pastoral team to manage and improve the day to day attendance of our students.

The successful candidate will be experienced in the following areas:

Contacting students & parents regarding attendance, lateness or persistence absences

Update school records, analyse attendance data & provide reports SLT/Governors

Meet with school staff, pupils & parents to establish the reasons for non-attendance/poor punctuality & agree a plan with appropriate strategies & timescales to tackle the issues

Make contact with families in response to allocated referrals through home visits and/or meetings in school

Liaise with the Education Welfare Officer. Prepare the appropriate paperwork & present information as required to enable the school meet its obligations & statutory responsibilities.

Be fully aware of & carry out all work in line with Child Protection /Safeguarding Procedures

Liaise with external organisations as required

Keep accurate, clear & concise records of all interventions, consultations & update the attendance system

Maintain a good working knowledge of the statutory framework & any policies & procedures relating to school attendance

Candidates must hold a valid UK driving licence for this position.
