Job summary

Service Care Solutions in Salford, Greater Manchester, is recruiting a Family Support Worker to join a team supporting children, young people and families across the local community. Based in an office, you will provide practical, emotional and targeted support to build resilience and access services, while working with social workers and other professionals to promote positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, young people and/or families.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively with families facing challenging circumstances.
• Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
• Professional, solution-focused approach.
• Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
• Experience within social care, family support, early help, children's services, youth work or similar environment would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to children, young people and their families.
• Building positive, professional relationships with parents, carers and young people.
• Identifying family needs and helping to develop appropriate support plans.
• Supporting families to access relevant services and community resources.
• Working alongside social workers and other professionals to promote positive outcomes.
• Encouraging families to develop practical skills, confidence and independence.
• Maintaining accurate records and case notes.
• Contributing to meetings, reviews and multi-agency discussions.
• Promoting safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children and young people remains at the centre of your work.
• Responding appropriately to changing family circumstances and emerging needs.
