Job description
The Role:

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family Solicitor to join a respected team in Exmouth. The successful applicant will play a key role within a busy department, providing high-quality legal advice and client care across a broad spectrum of family law matters. These will include divorce, civil partnerships, separation, cohabitation disputes, financial settlements, and children matters. Knowledge of the legal aid system would be advantageous.

Skills and Experience:

The appointed candidate will be a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with at least five years’ experience of independently managing their own caseload. A proven track record of handling a variety of family matters will be highly regarded. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage high volumes of work, and resilience under pressure are essential.

Applicants should be personable, confident, and articulate, with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team. Familiarity with case management systems and electronic filing processes would be beneficial.

The Candidate:

The role requires an enthusiastic, motivated professional with aspirations to supervise and mentor junior colleagues. While working to the firm’s policies on risk management and supervision, the successful candidate will also contribute positively to team and firm-wide values.

This position offers genuine prospects for progression, with opportunities to build and lead a team and the potential for associate or partnership status. Networking and representing the firm at external events will also form part of the role.

Applications are welcomed from practitioners who may not meet every requirement but can demonstrate strong potential, commitment, and a genuine enthusiasm for family law.
