Job description

We are a well-regarded law firm committed to providing compassionate and expert legal advice across a range of family law matters. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Family Solicitor to join our busy team on the Isle of Wight, England.

Key Responsibilities

As a Family Solicitor, you will manage a varied caseload, providing high-quality legal services to our clients.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Handling a diverse caseload covering all aspects of private family law, including divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, financial settlements (ancillary relief), and pre-nuptial/post-nuptial agreements.
  • Advising on complex children matters, such as child arrangement orders, specific issue orders, prohibited steps orders, and relocation applications.
  • Conducting client meetings, providing clear and practical advice, and maintaining excellent client communication throughout the process.
  • Drafting legal documents, including court applications, statements, and settlement agreements.
  • Representing clients in negotiations, mediations, and potentially in court hearings (advocacy skills are desirable).
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of family law legislation and case law.
  • Actively participating in business development and networking opportunities.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Criteria)
  • You must be a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
  • 1-8 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) specialising in private family law.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a full and varied family law caseload with minimal supervision.
