Family Legal Secretary – Huddersfield

A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Family Secretary to join its supportive and expanding Family Law team. You must have previous family law secretarial experience to be considered for this role. The firm is renowned for its friendly, inclusive culture and its genuine commitment to work-life balance. With offices across Yorkshire and the flexibility to work from either Leeds or Huddersfield, on a hybrid basis – this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking practice that values its people as much as its clients.

The Role:

You will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Family team, ensuring that clients receive a professional, efficient and empathetic service at all times. You will be an integral part of a busy department, supporting fee earners with case management and client communication while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of client care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Audio and copy typing for fee earners using digital dictation in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Managing incoming calls, liaising with clients, solicitors and external organisations
  • Handling mediation enquiries, opening new files and scheduling appointments
  • Preparing correspondence, documents and court forms
  • Maintaining accurate records and assisting with the creation of precedents and templates
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for improving processes
  • Working collaboratively with the wider administration team to ensure smooth departmental operations
Person Specification:
  • Previous experience in a Family Law department within a law firm is essential
  • Excellent typing skills with experience of digital dictation
  • Confident communicator with a professional and compassionate telephone manner
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing workloads
  • Proactive, efficient and able to use initiative
  • A team player with a positive, adaptable attitude
