Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Family Group Worker to join our Family Help Service across our Family Hub locations. You will plan and deliver activities for children aged 0-5 and support crèche provision to promote development.

You will work with partners to support vulnerable families, monitor development and records, and maintain safe, welcoming Family Hub environments. NVQ Level 3 childcare and SEND experience are required, along with safeguarding knowledge and teamwork.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification.
• Experience with children aged 0-5 and families.
• Experience supporting vulnerable families.
• Experience with SEND.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and early years development.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to maintain records and work as part of a team.
• Proactive and flexible approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging activities for children 0-5 and families.
• Provide high-quality crèche that supports development.
• Encourage parent participation to promote strong attachments and family relationships.
• Monitor children's development and record progress and outcomes.
• Support vulnerable families and signpost to appropriate services.
• Maintain safe, welcoming and inclusive Family Hub environments.
• Work with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver excellent services for local families.
