Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel invites applications for a Family Court Advisor in Brighton. You will undertake safeguarding assessments for children involved in family proceedings and work directly with children to capture their wishes, feelings and lived experiences.

This ongoing role offers flexible full-time or part-time hours, with opportunities for professional growth and a broad range of challenging cases. You will contribute high-quality welfare reports and advise on welfare matters to support

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England.
• Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to safeguarding and family justice practice.
• Minimum three years' post-qualifying experience with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Undertake safeguarding and welfare assessments for children in private/public family proceedings.
• Direct work with children to understand their wishes, feelings and lived experiences.
• Analyse complex family circumstances, risk factors, and child protection concerns for reports.
• Conduct safeguarding enquiries with local authorities, police and health services.
• Advise judges and magistrates on welfare, safety and long-term outcomes.

What you will do:

• Undertake comprehensive safeguarding and welfare assessments for children involved in private and public law family proceedings.
• Complete direct work with children to understand and accurately represent their wishes, feelings, and lived experiences.
• Analyse complex family circumstances, risk factors, and child protection concerns, producing high-quality reports and recommendations for the Family Court.
• Conduct safeguarding enquiries with local authorities, police, health services, and other relevant agencies.
• Advise judges and magistrates on matters affecting children’s welfare, safety, and long-term outcomes.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Degree in Social Work, BA (Hons) Social Work, DipSW or equivalent recognised social work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to safeguarding and family justice practice.

Registration and Compliance:

• Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.

Experience:

• Minimum three years' post-qualifying experience working with children and families.
• Experience undertaking statutory assessments within children's social care or related safeguarding services.
