Do you have previous experience working with SEND families? Are you a strong communicator and planner? If so, we may have the perfect role for you. This is a fixed term (10 hours per week) contract for 5 months based in Bradford with travel across the area essential.

An exciting and highly rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Family Connector to join Mencap on a fixed-term contract, utilising lived experience to engage and connect with parent caregivers of children with SEND in their community. Working together alongside local services, you support families to thrive. Local knowledge of the Bradford City Centre SEND community offer will be very beneficial in this role.

Do you have the skills and experience to join us as a Family Connector? We’re seeking someone who:

  • Is a parent or caregiver of a child with SEND
  • Can support others and developing communities for the better
  • Work as part of a team or in partnership Knowledge and experience of the SEND landscape and local assets
  • Support group work/community engagement
  • Collate information using MS Office (Word / Excel)
  • Can coproduce activities with families of SEND children
Key responsibilities
  • Use your lived experience to support and empower families
  • Facilitate peer groups and community networks
  • Co-deliver sessions with service providers
  • Promote co-production to shape better community support
  • Help families understand their rights through workshops
  • Raise awareness of families with SEND children
  • Gather feedback to measure impact and learning
