Job description
Overview

Families First is looking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Support Worker who will be responsible for the identification and assessment of need, the delivery of interventions and the engagement of vulnerable families within Blaenau Gwent.

The successful candidate will coordinate and deliver bespoke early intervention packages of support to enable families to become confident, nurturing, resilient and safe.

Responsibilities

The Social Services Directorate – Children’s Services are looking to recruit a multi‑skilled professional to work with families in need of support. You will deliver a comprehensive parenting support programme to meet individual needs and increase positive outcomes, undertake family assessments and chair meetings to develop Family Support Plans.

You will communicate effectively with children and young people, be flexible in your working hours to meet the needs of children and their families and undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and role.

Qualifications

The role requires a relevant Level 3 or above professional qualification in Social Care, and Level 1 & 2 in Safeguarding along with proven experience of working with children in a community setting.

Experience of working with other agencies, undertaking assessments and delivering interventions, with a good understanding of child development and sound working knowledge of legislation, guidance and standards related to children’s support services is essential.

Additional requirements

Access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of the role.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive pre‑employment screening process will be undertaken which will include an Enhanced Disclosure with Child and Adult Barred List.
