Job summary

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) invites applications for a Faculty Affairs Officer in the Department of Economics. The role sits within the Operations team and supports senior academics and the Faculty Affairs Manager in delivering objectives and business support.

We seek a candidate with proven administrative experience, strong finance skills, and excellent communication abilities, capable of managing busy workloads and liaising with senior contacts across the School.

Salary from £36,513pa to £41,565pa inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468pa inclusive

The Department of Economics is one of the largest economics departments in the World, with over 70 faculty and 1100 students.

The Department is seeking a highly committed and motivated Faculty Affairs Officer

to work within the department’s Operations team, supporting high profile professors and the Faculty Affairs Manager in delivering objectives and business support.

The post holder will need to have proven administrative experience at a senior level with a particular focus on outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience of financial and business support is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with experience of taking minutes for high-profile meetings and confidence in liaising with senior external contacts.

Previous experience in a higher education setting is desirable, as is an understanding of academic processes.

The post holder will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and work collaboratively with colleagues across the School and within the Department.

The elements of the role require a high level of planning, organising workloads and collaborative working, along with balancing the needs of individuals, whilst managing expectations.

The post holder should be able to demonstrate experience of planning a busy workload with a variety of tasks and multiple deadlines as well as financial experience at a high level.

Candidates must have strong previous finance experience, an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, an ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, at all levels.
