Job description

Job Title: Production Operative
Location: Grantham
Reports to: Production Manager
Rate: 12.21 hr
Working Hrs: 7.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday
Benefits may include: pension scheme, paid holiday.

We a Grantham based manufacturer of high-quality vertical and roller blinds for residential and commercial customers. We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Production Operative with excellent measuring and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately measuring skills
  • Assemble roller and vertical blind components to agreed quality standards.
  • Perform delicate tasks including fabric alignment, hemming, sewing, attachment of tapes/weights, and ensuring fabric runs true.
  • Read and interpret production orders, cutting lists and templates.
  • Operate and maintain production machinery; perform routine cleaning.
  • Pack finished products securely and label accurately for dispatch.
What we need:
  • Strong numeracy (mm/cm/inches).
  • Proven experience measuring and cutting materials to close tolerances (±1–3 mm typical).
  • Confident and safe use of saws and workshop equipment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for delicate fabric work (sewing, eyelet insertion).
  • Able to read production drawings, cutting lists and follow written instructions.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a small team or independently.
  • Willingness to learn and follow process documentation and standard work instructions.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with sewing machines, fabric finishing and hemming techniques.
  • Understanding of aluminium section fabrication and light fabrication skills.
  • Previous experience in blinds, upholstery or soft‑furnishings manufacturing.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This role involves standing for long periods, lifting and moving heavy components, repetitive tasks, and work in a temperature‑controlled but workshop environment. Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.
