Job summary

Sygnature Discovery Limited is seeking a Facilities Technician to join our Glasgow team. The role is on-site, five days per week, supporting maintenance of laboratories, stock management, and safety compliance.

You will work closely with scientists and the facilities team, ensuring inventory accuracy and proper handling of chemicals, solvents, and consumables. Full training provided and a path within CRO environment.

Qualifications

  • Five National 5s including English Language and Maths.
  • Experience in laboratory, warehouse, facilities or operational support is welcome.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving mindset.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with deadline awareness.
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate high Health & Safety awareness and compliance.
  • Manage site deliveries across the lab facilities safely.
  • Handle site waste streams and related compliance.
  • Maintain emergency and safety equipment and records.
  • Replace and restock gas cylinders per safety procedures.
  • Monitor fridge/freezer temps and document records.
  • Maintain PAT records and support power-failure responses.

About the role

A new opportunity has arisen for afacilitiesTechnician to join our team inGlasgow. This role is based on-site, and the post holder will be expected to be in the office five days per week.

Reporting to theSite Operations Manager, theFacilitiesTechnicianwill play a pivotal role, working closely with the wider facilities team and scientists to ensure that our laboratories are in excellent working order, enabling our scientists to carry out their important work. They will be responsible forassisting in the maintenance ofstock levels, including that of chemicals, solvents, consumables, and department-specific supplies, ensuring inventory is up to date. This will include tracking and ordering goods, using relevant systems to manage tasks and monitoring shipments.

TheFacilitiesTechnicianwill also be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and basic repair ofvarious pieces of scientificequipmentensuring Health and Safety standards arealways followed.Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician looking to work in a niche sector, or for a high school graduate with a scientific background looking to step into a CRO environment. We are looking for someone with a passion for science, who enjoys collaborating within a small team that ensures the site is always in working order.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a high level of Health & Safety awareness, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Manage deliveries from various departments across the site safely and efficiently.
  • Manage site waste streams, including solvent waste, clinical waste, Stericycle waste, recycling streams, and associated compliance requirements.
  • Maintain emergency and safety equipment, including eyewash stations, safety showers, spill kits, fire safety equipment, and Legionella monitoring records.
  • Replace and restock gas cylinders in accordance with approved safety procedures.
  • Monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures and maintain associated records.
  • Ensure Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) records remain up to date and support power failure response activities.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Five National 5 qualifications or equivalentat grade C or above including English Language and Maths.
  • Previous experienceina laboratory, warehouse, facilities or operational support environmentwelcome.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a problem-solvingmindset.
  • A can-do, enthusiastic work attitude.
  • Able to work to deadlines in a safe and efficient manner – prioritising tasks as necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A good working knowledge of mathematics and IT – confident in the use of a variety of IT system, including Outlook, Word, Excel and ideally some experience of using purchasing systems.
