Job summary

Weetabix – Deeside is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to lead the day-to-day management of site facilities, utilities, security and service partners. Based at the Deeside site, you will work within Engineering to ensure safe, compliant and reliable operations across production and non‑production areas.

The role requires hands-on coordination of contractors, adherence to BG01 and PSSR, and a focus on cost control and energy efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities management and utilities operations.
  • Ability to coordinate contractors and service partners.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and RAMS.
  • Understanding of statutory compliance and GMP/BRC desirable.

Job Purpose / Summary
  • The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the effective management, operation and oversight of all site facilities and associated services.
  • The role ensures that buildings, grounds, utilities, security, site services and contracted partners operate reliably, safely and in compliance with all legal and organisational standards.
  • Working as part of the Engineering function, the Facilities Supervisor supports operational continuity by coordinating planned and reactive facilities work, managing contractors, overseeing utility usage and systems, and ensuring the site environment remains safe, functional, and fit for purpose.
  • This role oversees facilities activities (via 3P or otherwise), including provision of utilities, at the Deeside site on a day‑to‑day basis to ensure they are delivered safely and in full compliance with external and internal regulations, to support business activities in both production and non‑production areas. The role will also contribute to safely managing and improving standards and service delivery, while helping maintain cost control.
  • The role reports directly into the Lead Engineer at Deeside but has an indirect reporting line into the Senior Facilities Manager in the central Site Services team.
Key Accountabilities

Facilities Management

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of all site facilities, ensuring buildings, offices, production support spaces, welfare areas and external grounds are maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensure statutory inspections, compliance checks and building services maintenance are completed on time (e.g., fire systems, HVAC, shutters, drains, lifts, boilers, alarms, water systems).
  • Maintain the facilities schedule and ensure all corrective actions are completed promptly.

Utilities Management

  • Manage the performance, monitoring and reporting of all site utilities, including:
    • Electricity
    • Gas
    • Water
    • Compressed air
    • Steam/boiler operations
    • HVAC and climate systems
  • Ensure safe/compliant operation and full delivery/distribution of utilities to maintain continuity (electricity, gas, steam, water, compressed air), supporting Legionella monitoring, water treatment & waste‑water handling, drain clearing/improvements; comply with BG01 (boiler) and PSSR.
  • Track usage trends and support identification of cost saving and efficiency opportunities.
  • Support investigations, outages or equipment failures.
  • Report energy use including metering/invoicing details, Carbon Credits, Climate Change Levy, and support energy‑saving initiatives.
  • Monitor & report utilities activities against contractual & in‑house KPIs including sustainability targets.

Security Management

  • Primary contact for the site security service provider.
  • Ensure security protocols are in place and maintained, including access control, CCTV functionality, visitor protocols and emergency response arrangements.
  • Support the Lead Engineer, Senior Facilities Manager and SHE team in managing security related issues or investigations.

Contractor & Service Partner Management

  • Manage relationships, performance and contracts for facilities service providers, including, but not limited to:
    • Security services
    • Vending machine supplier
    • Cleaning and grounds contractors
    • Waste management
    • Maintenance service partners (e.g., HVAC, boiler servicing, fire alarm support)
  • Ensure all contractors follow site induction processes, safety rules and permit to work and RAMS procedures.

Vending Machine & On Site Service Oversight

  • Manage the vending service contract, including stock replenishment, machine performance, financial accountability, escalations and relationship with the supplier.
  • Escalate and coordinate any required maintenance or service requests, including the management of any permits to work and risk assessments from the supplier.

Pool Car Maintenance Management

  • Manage and coordinate any servicing, MOT and / or repair requirements for the Pool car.
  • Ensure that the Pool car is regularly checked and deemed as ‘safe to drive’.
  • Manage and review all Pool Car booking in and out forms to ensure that car‑related issues are managed and resolved quickly.
  • Cover the Receptionist for Pool Car bookings in the event of sickness or holidays.

Ad Hoc Engineering Support for Facilities

  • Coordinate small works, minor repairs and fabric/fixtures activities across the site.
  • Liaise with the Multi Skilled Engineer to complete facility related tasks requiring engineering support.
  • Arrange specialist contractors when work is outside site capability.

Work Order & Systems Support

  • Raise, update and manage facilities related work orders within the maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Provide accurate information to the Engineering Administrator for reporting and planning.
  • Maintain facility asset records and help build long term planning for site infrastructure.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all facilities work is conducted safely and in compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Support risk assessments, contractor RAMS review and safe system of work adherence.
  • Maintain compliance with BG01 and PSSR.
  • Manage the risk of legionella through risk assessments and maintenance.
  • Maintain compliance documentation required for site audits and legal inspections.

Governance, Performance & Energy

  • Daily/weekly liaison with business stakeholders to ensure delivery and identify emerging needs.
  • Governance and performance management with suppliers (monthly, quarterly, annual reviews) to drive long‑term performance.
  • Supporting Lead Engineer / others in review of spend versus budget for facilities & utilities on a monthly basis and identifying savings or mitigations.
  • Identifying & implementing innovative solutions within contractual boundaries (or recommending pursuits outside them).
  • Supporting Senior Facilities Manager in central team on development of 5‑year capital project plans (EHS, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Engagement metrics).
  • Any other duties consistent with the level, skills & experience reasonably required to support the business.

  • Carry out any duties required by the Lead Engineer or Senior Facilities Manager.
  • Responsible for contributing to Food Safety, Quality and Legality through maintenance of the site environment.

  • Acts as the site’s facilities subject matter expert, influencing others to follow safe, effective and compliant facility procedures.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of both hard and soft facilities services (e.g. utilities, maintenance, cleaning, security, contracts)
  • Good understanding of asset maintenance, statutory compliance, and engineering standards
  • Accountable for safe and efficient operation of site utilities, including boilers, compressed air, and energy systems
  • Solid understanding of EHS procedures, including:
    • Risk assessment and control measures
    • Safe systems of work
  • Good understanding of quality and food safety standards, including:
    • HACCP
    • GMP
    • BRC (desirable)
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Awareness of compliance frameworks and audit requirements

Good to have

  • Facilities Management qualification
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification
  • BOAS certification (or strong working knowledge of boiler systems)
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy)
  • Subject matter expertise in regulatory compliance

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a facilities or engineering environment, including:
    • Supervising or coordinating facilities services
    • Managing contractors and service providers
    • Performance‑based contract management
  • Experience overseeing planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Exposure to utilities or energy systems operations (e.g. boiler house, CHP)

Good to have

  • Experience in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment
  • Hands‑on experience with boiler/energy plant operations
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance inspections
