A local educational institution in Cheltenham is seeking a Facilities Operative Apprentice to assist with maintenance and cleaning tasks. Facilities Operative Apprenticeship at Charlton Kings Infants’ School
Charlton Kings Infants’ School is a vibrant infant school and kindergarten with around 300 pupils and 50 dedicated staff members. We take great pride in providing a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for our school community.
We are seeking a hardworking, energetic, and organised Facilities Apprentice to support the day-to-day running and maintenance of our school site. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of facilities and maintenance tasks while working within a friendly and supportive team.
You’ll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and School Business Manager, taking responsibility for maintaining the security, safety, and cleanliness of our buildings and grounds. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping spaces safe and well presented.
Location: Lyefield Road East, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL53 8AY
Salary: £7.55 an hour, automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
Working Week: Monday to Friday 7am till 6:30pm with breaks included
Hours: 30 hours per week
Duration: 12 months

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 2 Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship standard qualification. Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Please note that upon a successful offer of employment, the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - Matrix Screening. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
