Job summary

A leading education provider is seeking a Facilities Operations Engineer to maintain and refurbish facilities across its campuses in the UK. The ideal candidate will possess the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification and have a clean driving license. Qualifications

  • Certification in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations required.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 in Electrical Installations preferred.
  • Previous building maintenance experience necessary.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently and with a team.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • COSHH knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, install, and refurbish equipment across GBS estates.
  • Monitor the condition of buildings and undertake repairs.
  • Assist in planning refurbishment projects and travel to campuses.
  • Documentation and Inventory Management.

Skills

The Role: The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and the equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. They will monitor the condition of GBS buildings, undertake repairs and renovations, and assist Estates and Facilities in the planning of refurbishment projects. This role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and demands flexible working to accommodate business operations. They will work a 40‑hour week, covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00am to 9:30pm, with occasional out‑of‑hours work as required to minimise disruption and ensure the smooth completion of maintenance tasks.

Experience And Skills Required
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
  • City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent NVQ, or demonstrable experience to the same standard.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance including M&E systems.
  • Manual skills, knowledge of refurbishment techniques.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work with “can do” attitude.
  • Familiarity with COSHH requirements for the equipment and chemicals being used.
  • Interpersonal skill and ability to work on your own but at the same time part of the facilities wider team.
  • Full, Clean Driving License
