Job Description

Job title: Facilities Manager (Outstations)

Location: Flexible home base with regularly weekly travel (up to 3 days per week)

Salary: Between £55,000 - £65,000 DOE

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Lead infrastructure management across Outstations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Own the facilities budget, working closely with finance to produce monthly reports.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders including Facility Planners, Outstation teams, contractors, and materials teams to resolve daily operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate records in the maintenance management system for full audit compliance.
  • Produce performance reports aligned with KPIs, legal standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Support audits from internal and external bodies such as ORR and BSI.
  • Collaborate on procurement, helping to develop specifications and tender documents for services and goods.
  • Oversee contractor activities, reviewing work plans, RAMS, and conducting risk assessments.
  • Manage seasonal tasks like Winterisation and Summarisation to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with IMS standards and certifications including ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001.
About you
Essential
  • Prior experience working in a facilities management role is essential.
  • Sound knowledge and implementation/compliance of rules, regulations and policies.
  • Experience of managing small teams of staff and contractors.
  • Strong communication skills to converse with all stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • An NVQ3 /C&G electrical or mechanical craft apprenticeship (or relevant experience/qualification)
  • Hold a BIFM Facilities Management qualification or relevant experience/qualification
  • Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Certificate in Environmental Work Place Safety and Standards or relevant experience/qualification.
  • Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certification in Managing Safely. or relevant experience/qualification.
Desirable
  • Full Member of (BIFM) British Institute of Facilities Management
  • Member CIOB Chartered Institute of Building/ Member BICS British Institute of Cleaning Science L8 Legionella & the Role of the Responsible Person.
  • Experience of Permanent Way Asset Management and Network Rail Standards.
  • Previous experience of general routine building maintenance in an industrial environment is essential M+E, HVAC and Civil Engineering. IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations.
  • Powered Plant – Fork Lift Truck, MEWP and Maintenance of safety critical machinery.
  • Schematics reading, Electronic Circuit Diagrams.
  • Contractor Management and work force resource implementation.
  • Management skills E.G Personal/Team Leadership, Contract/Negotiation Skills
  • Project Management skills
