Facilities Manager - ESS (Defence & Government Services)

Location: HMS Sultan

Salary: £33,300 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Overall Purpose of the Role

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Facilities Manager to join our ESS team! In this exciting role, you'll enhance the customer experience and uphold the reputation of ESS by leading a team of 30 dedicated colleagues, managing facilities operations, and ensuring exceptional service delivery. You'll take charge of cleaning and accommodation services, manage budgets and resources efficiently, and champion safety, quality, and compliance across your site.

Key Accountabilities
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture, ensuring all team members follow company and client procedures.
  • Take ownership of FM service delivery across all assigned areas, including remote sites.
  • Manage cleaning labour, equipment, and resource budgets effectively.
  • Use data and insight to forecast labour needs and drive profitability.
  • Ensure Compass Service Framework policies and procedures are current and implemented correctly.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Recruit, train, and develop your team with a focus on growth and succession.
  • Lead and motivate your team of 30, ensuring high standards and engagement.
  • Conduct customer journeys, audits, and quality checks to maintain service excellence.
  • Oversee onsite accommodation services in line with service level agreements.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and contractors to ensure agreed service levels are met.
  • Attend off-site meetings, training sessions, and work flexibly when needed.
  • Role model the ESS Way behaviours at all times.
  • Ensure all company, client, and legal requirements are implemented effectively.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties requested by your Line Manager.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about delivering excellence in hospitality or facilities management.
  • Excellent communicator with strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Minimum 12 months' experience managing a cleaning or FM operation.
  • Proven experience managing a large team (20+ employees).
  • Previous experience in Hotel, Hospitality, or similar service-led environment.
  • IT literate with good numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Able to meet time-sensitive deadlines and work flexibly as needed.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
