About the apprenticeship

We are looking for individuals to join our facilities management team, who work every day to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing, of both our buildings, and teams who work in them. This team plays a key role in delivering our mission and ensuring we are compliant with government regulations.

As an apprentice, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects of workplace management such as managing welfare concerns, undertaking risk‑based inspections, supporting emergency training exercises, managing, and authorising new works requests. Other aspects include working with Project teams, reviewing and approving safe systems of work packs for breakdowns and maintenance, liaising with and supporting residential groups, and networking with customers.

When going out within AWE, you'll be going into a Facility Management role to support the business to use your learning and knowledge to influence and manage building residents, stakeholders and how we can make AWE better.

This role is working within your Facility Management office, alongside seeing your facilities - to interact and get to know your residents and facilities. Being hands on with the changes within the facilities.

In addition, you will be given the opportunity for personal development through activities such as team building challenges, organisational awareness presentations, health and safety workshops and charity projects.

Annual leave will not be granted from 1st September until 2nd October 2026 due to mandatory inductions you are required to complete as part of your apprenticeship. Any leave approved after this point will depend on the training provider requirements for your apprenticeship and must be agreed in advance.

24 months plus 4 months End Point Assessment

Recruitment Process

We want you to shine in your application process which is designed to be fair and transparent. So we've kept it simple with a three step process.

Online application: Apply for one apprenticeship; take your time to explore the options and choose the one that best matches your interests and goals.

Online test: If successful, you will be invited to complete our online assessment stage. These include online testing against numerical, verbal, logical and cognitive reasoning tests. Don't be intimidated: practice assessments will be available so you will be fully equipped with the knowledge of what to expect.

Virtual assessment: Those successful at testing will be invited to a virtual assessment centre. The Assessment Centres are scheduled for 9th and 10th December 2025, and 12th/13th and 15th January 2026. Please note that these dates may be subject to change, but rest assured, we'll keep all applicants informed throughout the process.

These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health pre‑employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process. All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
