Job summary

A higher education provider in the UK is seeking an entry-level Building Maintenance Technician. The successful candidate will handle preventative and reactive maintenance, ensure health and safety compliance, and maintain documentation and inventories. Required qualifications include the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification and a City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Installations. Qualifications

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification is required.
  • City & Guilds Level 2 or equivalent experience needed.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with COSHH requirements and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently or with the facilities team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on buildings.
  • Manage health, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Handle documentation and inventory management.
  • Manage documentation and inventory for facilities.
  • Support refurbishment and fit-out projects as needed.
  • Travel and flexibility as required.

Skills

18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations
Previous experience in building maintenance
Manual skills and knowledge of refurbishment techniques
Flexible and proactive approach to work
Familiarity with COSHH requirements
Interpersonal skills

Experience And Skills Required


  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

  • City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent NVQ, or demonstrable experience to the same standard

  • Previous experience in building maintenance including M&E systems

  • Manual skills, knowledge of refurbishment techniques

  • A flexible and proactive approach to work with a “can‑do” attitude

  • Familiarity with COSHH requirements for the equipment and chemicals being used

  • Interpersonal skill and ability to work on your own but also part of the facilities wider team

  • Full, Clean Driving Licence
