Qualifications

  • Certification in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations required.
  • City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance with M&E systems is necessary.
  • COSHH knowledge for equipment and chemicals used.
  • Flexible and proactive approach with a can-do attitude.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and equipment across sites.
  • Undertake repairs and renovations as needed.
  • Assist in planning refurbishment projects.
  • Ensure health, safety and compliance standards.
  • Maintain documentation and inventory.

Skills

18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

About Us: GBS is a higher education provider offering a range of sector‑relevant courses across ten campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Working in partnership with several of the UK’s leading higher education providers, we deliver vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in finance, accounting, business, construction, tourism, healthcare – and more.

The Role: The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and the equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. They will monitor the condition of GBS buildings, undertake repairs and renovations, and assist Estates and Facilities in the planning of refurbishment projects. This role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and demands flexible working to accommodate business operations. They will work a 40‑hour week, covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00am to 9:30pm, with occasional out‑of‑hours work as required to minimise disruption and ensure the smooth completion of maintenance tasks.

Experience And Skills Required
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

  • Manual skills, knowledge of refurbishment techniques.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work with “can do” attitude.

  • Interpersonal skill and ability to work on your own but at the same time part of the facilities wider team.
