The Role

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to support the management, maintenance, and compliance of estates systems across a multi-site education environment in London. This role involves both technical engineering and compliance responsibilities, ensuring facilities systems are safe, efficient, and legally compliant. You will support electrical and computer-based FM systems, oversee contractors, manage compliance documentation, and provide technical advice across a wide range of estates operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, maintain, and develop facilities and building systems across sites
  • Oversee CCTV, access control, security systems, and fire alarms
  • Carry out PAT testing, electrical installations, and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate compliance programmes, audits, inspections, and remedial actions
  • Maintain statutory compliance records and risk assessments
  • Provide technical support across HVAC, BMS, lighting, and energy management systems
  • Collaborate with IT teams to resolve IP communications issues
  • Liaise with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, high-quality service delivery
What We're Looking For
  • Vocational qualification or degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline
  • Knowledge of 18th Edition Regulations (BS 7671), health & safety, and statutory compliance
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, BMS, HVAC, fire alarm, and telecommunications systems
  • Strong record-keeping and compliance management skills
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and deliver compliance programmes
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and IT skills
  • Experience in a college, university, or large multi-site estates environment is highly desirable
