Job description

As a Head Caretaker you will be responsible for the caretaking team and, in addition provide caretaking and maintenance services to all buildings and grounds within the school site, assisting to ensure a safe and secure environment 37.5 hours per week (flexibility required on hours of work)

Head Caretaker

Salary: From £37,220 per annumLocation: Surbiton, LondonContract: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage caretaking staff across multiple sites.
• Conduct regular site checks, fire safety tests, and maintain emergency systems.
• Oversee building maintenance, cleaning standards, and health & safety compliance.
• Manage contractors and service providers for efficient delivery.
• Assist withannual budgets and maintain inventories.
• Coordinate health & safety training and administrative tasks.
• Deputise for Head of Facilities and manage external lettings/bookings.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities management or caretaking.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Clean UK driving licence (minibus experience desirable).
