Job summary

Bolton Council is seeking a Facilities Assistant on a fixed-term 12-month contract, working 18.5 hours per week. The role supports Best Start Family Hubs by maintaining security, opening/closing buildings, and ensuring a clean, safe environment. An essential driving licence is required, with an on rota schedule including Saturday/on-call shifts.

Salary in Grade C scp 4 ranges from £12,791 to £12,994, plus an essential car user allowance up to £963 per year and a pay award pending.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence is essential.
• Experience in cleaning and grounds maintenance.
• Commitment to providing a safe environment for service users.
• Flexible and able to cover a rota.

Responsibilities

• Maintain site security, opening and closing buildings, ensuring facilities are in excellent condition, safe, secure and clean at all times.
• Perform general repairs and maintenance, including basic joinery, painting and decorating.
• Manual handling of equipment and resources.
• General upkeep of the building, including cleaning and grounds maintenance.
• Prepare and tidy rooms before and after activities for children and families.
• Report maintenance issues to the relevant department.
• Undertake fire safety and general health and safety checks.
