Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital janitorial service across our estate to ensure our properties are a safe place to work or learn in.

Qualifications

• PVG scheme membership or update check required.
• Overseas Criminal Record Check if spent ≥3 months outside the UK in the last 5 years.
• Pre-employment checks including PVG and overseas check must be satisfactory.

• Ensure security of the building and grounds.
• Maintain the building by reporting or carrying out minor repairs.
• Ensure facilities/equipment are available and set up for users.
• Carry out reactive cleaning of the building, equipment and grounds.
• Perform portering duties.
• Carry out litter picking duties.

Job description

As part of our team, you will be valued and respected with a key focus on training and development. Under the direction of the officer designated by the local authority and in accordance with the practices and procedures of the authority, the Facilities Assistant will be responsible for:

• Security of the building and grounds
• Maintenance of the building (either reporting or carrying out minor jobs)
• Ensuring facilities/equipment are available and set up for users
• Reactive cleaning of the building, equipment and surrounding grounds
• Portering duties
• Litter picking duties

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salary: £26,806 - £27,032 (pro rated for part time)
