HEARTS Academy Trust in Basildon/Rochford is seeking a Facilities Apprentice to support the safe, effective operation of the two school sites, Briscoe Primary School & Nursery in Basildon and Waterman Primary School in Rochford, while completing a Level 2 Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship.

The role involves caretaking, maintenance and cleaning tasks under supervision to develop safe, clean, and well‑functioning environments.

Job description

As a Facilities Apprentice you will support the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the school/site by assisting with a range of facilities, caretaking, maintenance, and cleaning duties while completing a Level 2 Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship. The apprentice will work under supervision, developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning environments. The role will be based across two of our school sites, Briscoe Primary School & Nursery in Basildon and Waterman Primary School in Rochford. Therefore, applicants must be able to commute between Basildon and Rochford (either via their own vehicle or public transport). The role will include:

• Facilities support and maintenance - carrying out basic and reactive maintenance tasks and basic grounds maintenance
• Cleaning / site preparation to a high standard
• Health, safety and compliance - adhering to Health & Safety policies, carrying out routine safety checks, safe use of equipment and reporting hazards, incidents and near misses
• Security / Site operations
• Dealing with contractors and receiving deliveries
• Learning and development - completion of the Level 2 Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship course and any further relevant training We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude and is willing to learn through both hands on experience and completion of the Apprenticeship Level 2 standard. You will be computer literate and be able to move across the two sites (by car or public transport).
