Facilities & Customer Service Assistant

Location: Castlewellan
Rate of Pay: £13.63 per hour
Contract: Initial Interim Assignment


VANRATH are delighted to be supporting a well‑established public sector organisation with the appointment of a Frontline Facilities & Customer Service Assistant based in Castlewellan. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with the public, thrives in an outdoor/park environment, and is confident handling both customer service and light maintenance duties.


The Role

The successful post‑holder will support the daily operation of a busy park facility, ensuring a welcoming, safe and well‑maintained environment. Key responsibilities include:



  • Operating the car park office, greeting visitors, issuing information, and collecting fees.

  • Handling and safeguarding monies in line with procedures, completing associated records and reports.

  • Monitoring the site, reporting defects, and undertaking general maintenance, cleaning, waste management and basic repair duties.

  • Opening and closing facilities and ensuring the premises are in a suitable condition throughout the day.

  • Carrying out routine safety and security checks, including first‑aid provision when required.

  • Using a range of tools, power tools and plant relevant to the role.

  • Ensuring all policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements are adhered to at all times.

  • Completing documentation, attending training, and supporting wider departmental activities as needed.


This role involves flexible working hours to meet the needs of the service.


Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:



  • GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent, plus at least 6 months' experience in a customer‑facing role;


OR, in lieu of GCSEs, at least 1 year's customer‑facing experience.



  • At least 6 months' cash‑handling experience, including keeping accurate associated records.

  • The ability to undertake frontline duties involving public interaction, basic maintenance, cleaning, and site safety.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in a busy environment.
