Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Fabricator for our Caldicot workshop in a permanent role. The position offers a 40-hour week, with typical hours 07:00–16:00 Mon-Thu and 07:00–13:00 Fri, and overtime at 1.5x. You will use hand tools, machinery, and welding to produce high-quality fabrications while adhering to safety standards.

You'll read drawings, set out parts, weld (MIG/TIG/MMA) when required, and help maintain quality and on-time deliveries within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery.
• Welding certifications (MIG, TIG, MMA) and relevant skills.
• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Fabrication and Welding or related discipline.
• Health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Measure, mark out, cut, bend and shape metal to spec.
• Assemble fabricated components using welding, bolting and riveting.
• Operate guillotines, presses, drills, grinders, saws and bending machines.
• Carry out MIG, TIG or MMA welding where required.
• Inspect completed work for quality and customer specs.
• Use measuring equipment like micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Finish parts with grinding, deburring and polishing.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and follow health & safety rules.
• Report shortages, faults, and quality issues to supervisors.
• Collaborate with welders, engineers, and production teams to meet deadlines.
