Job description

Title: Fabricator

Rate: £15.50 - £18.50 (dependant on qualifications & experience)

Job Type: Temp-Perm, Full time

Hours: 38.25 per week

About the role

AMLR is working in partnership with a renowned marine company that has been designing and building workboats for over 30 years in South‑West Wales, specifying pilot boats, patrol boats, work boats and wind farm support vessels. They are renowned for their quality workmanship and extensive marine knowledge, offering new boat builds, refits, maintenance and repair.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Fabricator to join their skilled team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fabrication and hold a recognised apprenticeship or relevant qualification. This role offers the chance to contribute to the production of high‑quality steel and aluminium structures within a respected and innovative marine environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble components using steel and aluminium, ensuring precision and adherence to engineering drawings.
  • Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings, layouts, and verbal instructions.
  • Carry out marking out, cutting, shaping, bending, forming, and tack welding to create accurate assemblies.
  • Operate a range of workshop machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workmanship and quality standards to deliver exceptional end products.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining the ability to work independently when required.
Skills & Requirements
  • Time‑served and qualified Fabricator.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication and production practices.
  • Ability to visualise and interpret designs from written or verbal instructions.
  • Methodical, proactive, and able to meet strict project deadlines.
  • Previous experience within marine or structural fabrication environments is highly desirable.
