A leading manufacturer of moulded plastic products is seeking a skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Tool Engineering Supervisor to lead their Mould Engineering team. Based in the PR2 area of Preston. This hands‑on role involves supervising fabrication and maintenance activities, overseeing tool assessments, and supporting continuous improvement across operations, within a busy manufacturing environment.

This position would suit an experienced tool engineer or fabricator with leadership experience, ideally from a manufacturing background. You'll need strong technical knowledge of welding, fabrication, and tool repair, as well as proven people management skills. If you're motivated by hands‑on leadership and want to play a key part in a dynamic production environment, this role offers an exciting opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a small fabrication team, managing workload, performance, and safety compliance.
  • Conduct complex tool repairs and sheet metal fabrication using TIG, MIG and gas welding methods.
  • Liaise with production and engineering teams to deliver preventative maintenance and project work.
  • Provide hands‑on support and mentorship to ensure quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with 5S and SHEQ standards.

Looking for someone with sheet metal and fabrication experience. Tig, Mig, Gas welding Experience. Structural steel fabrication.

Salary

£45,000 per annum (monthly paid)

Working Hours

Standard working hours: Monday to Thursday with two paid 15‑minute breaks and 30 minutes unpaid lunch. Friday hours: one paid break and 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
