Fabrication & Assembly Supervisor
Manufacturer - Steel Security Doors
Location: County Durham
Salary: £40,000
Hours: 39 per week

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:30
Friday: 08:00-15:30
30-minute lunch break each day

The Role

As Fabrication & Assembly Supervisor, you will be part of the Manufacturing & Fabrication Department, producing bespoke steel security doors and associated hardware. The role involves supervising a small team of four operatives as well as carrying out basic welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of 4 operatives in fabrication and assembly
• Carry out welding, general fabrication, and assembly duties
• Ensure quality standards and dimensional accuracy are consistently met
• Interpret and work from manufacturing drawings and specifications
• Plan and organise workflow to meet production deadlines
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure safe workshop practices

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous supervisory experience in an assembly or workshop environment
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Hands-on workshop/sheet metal fabrication experience
• Proficient with hand tools (grinding, cutting, drilling)
• Skilled in reading and understanding manufacturing drawings
• Confident in using measuring equipment for accuracy
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to follow work instructions and standard operating procedures
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
• Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance

Desirable

• Knowledge of stock control/warehousing
• Forklift truck licence
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience with ISO9001 quality systems
